A small aircraft crashed into a building in Connecticut on Thursday and triggered a fire, according to US media reports. The plane, which was carrying four people, took off from a small airport from the city center. 

The condition of those on board the aircraft remains unclear.

The small plane crashed into the building of manufacturing company Trumpf Inc after taking off from Robertson Airport, which is located in central Connecticut, according to reports from USA Today citing officials from the Farmington Police department. The jet took off around 10 am.

Tim McKenzie, an official from the Farmington Police Department, said, “There was some type of trouble in the air. The plane impacted the ground first and then hit the building”, according to reports from USA Today.

The plane, which was a Cessna Citation 560X make, carried four people and was on its way to Dare County Regional Airport, which is located in North Carolina‘s Manteo.

No casualties have been reported so in the Trumpf building and everyone inside the premises has been accounted for. No one was transported to a hospital for medical assistance, according to media reports citing statements from police officials.

The blaze triggered due to the crash burned for more than 20 minutes.

McKenzie, in a press briefing, said that the incident was reported to the authorities around 10 am. He added that the first responders saw flames surrounding a crashed aircraft and the corner of a building.

A tweet from the Farmington Police on Thursday read, “We are responding to a plane crash into a building at 111 Hyde Rd. Media can stage at the intersection of New Britain Ave and Hyde Rd for now. Any updates will be on our Twitter page. Please avoid the area so emergency crews can evacuate the immediate area.”
