Route 15

In the U.S. state of Connecticut, Route 15 is a state road that travels 83.53 miles (134.43 km) from Greenwich, Connecticut, where it connects with the Hutchinson River Parkway in New York, to East Hartford, Connecticut, where it ends and intersects Interstate 84 (I-84) in the north. The Berlin Turnpike, the Wilbur Cross Parkway, the Merritt Parkway, and a portion of the Wilbur Cross Highway make up Route 15’s four different portions. In order to create a continuous through route from New York to Massachusetts, the unified designation was granted to these several roadways in 1948. Locals frequently refer to the parkway portion of Route 15 as “The Merritt.”

The Hutchinson River Parkway continues southwest towards New York City from the New York State Route 120A intersection in the community of Rye Brook, in the town of Rye, New York, where Route 15 begins. As it enters Connecticut, the road becomes the Merritt Parkway, a four-lane limited-access parkway with low bridges, angular curves, and a tree-lined median that travels through affluent metropolitan areas in southern Fairfield County. On this part of Route 15, commercial vehicles are not permitted.
