In a gruesome discovery, police in New York City found multiple suitcases filled with body parts inside a Brooklyn apartment on Wednesday,

According to police sources, residents at 315 Linwood Street in East New York called authorities after a foul smell came from a sixth-floor home.

Officials entered the apartment and found blood and human remains. The tenant — a woman in her 20s — was unaccounted for, the sources said.

A person of interest had been identified and was being sought for questioning, according to sources.

Officials said an investigation into “a large amount of blood” found at the location was underway.

Kim Angeles, 24, who lives next door to the apartment where the crime took place, said the building superintendent first discovered human remains in the neighboring apartment and called police.

Multiple other building residents told The New York Post the woman who lives inside the apartment where the remains were found has a boyfriend. The couple would often fight with each other.

The medical examiner was investigating the findings and was expected to release further information Thursday, sources said.

The building, where there are 100 individual apartments, was constructed in 2020. It houses a number of people who were formerly homeless.

“This neighborhood is not the best neighborhood to be honest with you, but this is outrageous. Absolutely outrageous,” neighbor Lindsey Vena said to ABC7. “It makes me scared to even be around here. I’m just sick.”

“This is scary. I live here with my family and it’s just kind of wicked knowing that there’s somebody doing something like this where you lay your head at night,” she said.
