A ramp collapse at Stahlman Park in Surfside Beach resulted in multiple injuries on Thursday. According to the Surfside Fire Department, at least five teenagers were flown to the hospital.

The incident occurred at Surfside Beach, Texas, and fell on Thursday, injuring at least eight children and one adult. It happened at around 12:30 pm. The video of the ramp collapse surfaced on the internet which clearly showed a significant section of wood from the ramp, which appeared to connect the boardwalk to the beach, had caved inward.

As reported by Fox News, the collapse involved the Bayou City Fellowship summer camp, which had participants from Cypress, Tomball, and Spring Branch. The youngsters involved in the incident range in age from 14 to 18.

Three Life Flight helicopters were seen landing near the park after being dispatched to the incident.

According to the Surfside Fire Department, at least five teenagers were taken to the hospital, though the extent of their injuries is unknown. The injured persons were identified as part of a huge group at the beach wearing matching yellow T-shirts and are suspected to be linked with a youth club from Harris County, a local news outlet The Facts reported.

Emergency Medical Service personnel from Surfside, Freeport, Oyster Creek, Clute, and Lake Jackson were all rushed to the incident site to provide medical help to the injured victims, as per media reports. Following the evacuation, law enforcement officers were seen assessing the cleared area.

According to the authorities, the cause of the incident at Stahlman Park in Surfside Beach is still being examined. They have ensured to provide updates as the inquiry progresses.

Surfside Beach is located in Brazoria County on Texas’ Gulf Coast. It is located about 60 miles south of Houston and is well-known for its beachfront and recreational opportunities.
