The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigation a smash-and-grab that took place at Citrus Park Town Center in Tampa on Tuesday. People involved in the robbery, which happened at the Diamond Galleria in the mall, fled the scene. No one was taken into custody in connection with the incident, WFLA reported. 

A video shared on Twitter showed people at the mall trying to escape, assuming that there was a shooting. A helicopter can also be seen hoovering over the mall. 

Citrus Park Town Center is a shopping mall that opened in March 1999. Westfield Group acquired the shopping center three years later and renamed it Westfield Shopping town Citrus Park. It was  then renamed Westfield Citrus Park in June 2005.

The incident comes a day after the Memphis police dismissed reports of an active shooter at Frayser Achievement Elementary School and said that reports of shooting were “unfounded”.

Several reports on Monday claimed that there was an active shooter at the school and that 12 children were shot.

Speaking to ABC 24, Memphis Police said cops responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call but determined that no shooting took place and that the call was “unfounded.”

Memphis-Shelby County Schools also confirmed that it was a false report and that there was no such incident at the school on Monday.

Earlier this month, there were reports of a shooting near MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Several people reported hearing gunshots at the MGM Grand on July 17. However, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the reports were “unfounded“. They said the loud noise was caused by a shattered glass door.  

“Reports of a shooting near the MGM tonight are unfounded. Initial reports are a glass door shattered causing a loud noise which startled people in the valet area,” Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted.
