American football wide receiver Terrell Owens recalled the heated dispute with his neighbor, saying that “he could have died.”
The 48-year-old was involved in a dispute with a neighbor near his Florida home earlier this week, which led to the latter calling the cops on him for allegedly speeding. Owens filmed the incident and shared the video on social media.
Owens, who played 15 seasons in the NFL, had captioned the Instagram video, “Karen is real!!!!” Owens’ Instagram video caption. “Wow!!! Just a normal night of being a black man in America. I mean I don’t believe it, but you know what it is.”

The woman claimed her threatened her, and was heard on video saying, “You’re a Black man approaching a white woman!”
Recalling the incident, Owens told TMZ Sports that he believes he was lucky.
“If the wrong type of cops came out, if they got the wrong information. Her, you saw the video, she started crying, you never know how that situation could have turned.”
He added that he stayed calm because he feared for his safety.
“I could’ve died. Honestly, I could have died and the storyline would be totally different,” he said.

The Hall of Fame wide receiver said he wants the neighbor to face legal repercussions.
“I’m hoping the people here in Florida, they’re monitoring what has transpired,” Owens said.
“I’m hoping that maybe [Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody] can get on this and see what can be done because like I said this could’ve turned really, really bad and like I said, this could’ve been a situation where you guys may not have been talking to me live here today, but been talking about me in another way,” he told TMZ.
