As the debate over the police response to the Texas school massacre continues, a report said one of the victims could have survived had cops not been slow.

The child, who was among the 19 dead, kept bleeding while waiting for nearly an hour for police to come to the rescue. A first responder reportedly told the victim’s mother that the child could have made it through had there been no delay.

Texas State Sen. Roland Gutierrez said on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the girl’s heartbroken mother recalled to him about her daughter’s last moments.

“Her child had been shot by one bullet through the back, through the kidney area,” Gutierrez told the outlet. “The first responder that they eventually talked to said that their child likely bled out. “In that span of 30 or 40 minutes extra, that little girl might have lived,” the Democratic lawmaker said.

“So absolutely these mistakes may have led to the passing away of these children as well.”

The 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Ramos, first shot his grandmother at her home before heading to the school. As the shooter opened fire, police failed to responded on time.
