Pushed out of Presidency, Donald Trump’s MAGA wave might have hit the skids in January 2021, but it remains a risible force in American politics. With discontent brewing in the United States, Trump’s reactionary politics has many takers, especially among the American far-right. The ex-President -acutely aware of his support base- is perhaps angling for a second go at Presidency. Hours after the FBI raided his Mar-a-Lago mansion, the 76-year-old released a campaign-style video, portraying himself as the nation’s saviour.

Seguing from black to white, the three-minute, 50-second video trawls through the dark days of the recent American past before finding colour and vim in Trumpism and the ‘hard-working patriots’, who’ll together save/rebuild the nation from the mess that is Biden’s making. “We are a nation in decline,” declares Trump in his familiar drawl. Cue rolling thunder in the background as he reels off a plethora of issues- from the loss of face on the global stage, rising inflation, crime, economy, Covid, meek foreign policy, etc. He is at least right in pointing out that the United States are now a nation of ‘clowns’:
“We are a nation that allowed Russia to devastate a country, Ukraine, killing hundreds of thousands of people, and it will only get worse.,” Trump narrates. We are a nation that has weaponized its law enforcement against the opposing political party like never before,” quotes Fox News.
“We are a nation that is allowing Iran to build a massive nuclear weapon and China to use the trillions and trillions of dollars it’s taken from the United States to build a military to rival our own,” Trump laments in the video. We are a nation that over the past two years is no longer respected or listened to all around the world,” he added.

But hope is not far when the Donald is near:
“There is no mountain we cannot climb, there is no summit we cannot reach, there is no challenge we cannot meet,” the former president says as swelling orchestral music plays behind him. We will not bend, we will not break, we will not yield. There is no mountain we cannot climb, there is no summit we cannot reach, there is no challenge we cannot meet. We will not bend, we will not break, we will not yield,” says the ex-Prez to the sound of swooping orchestral music.
Aren’t we all acutely aware that “the best is yet to come.”
