After being impeached by the House of Representatives on Wednesday, President Trump urged Americans to be “united” and requested them to avoid violence as his first comments after the vote. Trump avoided mentioning his impeachment in his address.
In a videotaped message, he said he was “calling on all Americans to overcome the passions of the moment and join together as one American people. Let us choose to move forward united for the good of our families”, in a videotaped message, reported AFP.

The impeached President, whose hearing now stands pending at the US Senate, said, “We have seen political violence spiral out of control, we have seen too many riots, mobs, acts of intimidation & destruction. It must stop. Whether you are on the Right or Left, a Democrat or a Republican, there is never a justification for violence”.
While addressing the attacks carried out by his supporters at the US Capitol to disrupt Biden’s certification votes, he added, “I have directed federal agencies to use all necessary resources to maintain order. In Washington DC, we are bringing in thousands of National Guard members to secure the city & ensure that a transition can occur safely & without incident”, reported AP.
On the other hand, Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House, gave a statement in a symbolic manner while wearing the outfit she previously wore on Trump’s impeachment attempt in 2019 and using the same lectern which was stolen from her chambers during the violent attacks at the US Capitol last week. She said, “No one is above the law” while hinting towards the recently impeached President.
