Billionaire financier Thomas H Lee has died at the age of 78. He was found dead at his Manhattan office on Thursday morning. Reports suggest that he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“The family is extremely saddened by Tom’s death. While the world knew him as one of the pioneers in the private equity business and a successful businessman, we knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling, friend and philanthropist who always put others’ needs before his own. Our hearts are broken. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to grieve,” Lee spokesperson Michael Sitrick said in a statement.

Thomas H Lee has been married twice. His first wife was Barbara Fish Lee, an American philanthropist. They tied the knot in 1968 and filed for divorce in 1995.

His second wife is Ann Tenenbaum. She is from Savannah, Georgia. They tied the knot in 1996.

Who is Ann Tenenbaum?

Ann Tenenbaum is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College. She also served as a member of the Board of Trustees there from 1996 to 2004. She married Lee in 1996.

Tenenbaum currently serves on the Public Design Commission as the representative of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Visiting Committee of the Department of Photographs.

She is an art collector and serves on the Board of the Studio Museum in Harlem. Tenenbaum was awarded the Leo Award from Independent Curators International in 2003. She served as Vice-Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Dia Art Foundation from 1996 to 2006.
