Tiger Woods has been admitted to a hospital after a car accident in Los Angeles,the county Sheriff said in a statement.

“The driver and sole occupant was identified as PGA golfer, Eldrick Tiger Woods. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the “jaws of life” by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries,” the Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.

The incident took place on Tuesday morning with his vehicle rolling over on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes.

“Tiger Woods was in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries. He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support,” his agent was quoted as saying by CNN

The roll-over collision did not involve any other vehicles.

“He was able to communicate. He was conscious,” Sheriff later  said, adding that Woods was in “serious condition as a result of the accident.”

A deputy from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office, Carlos Gonzalez, said it was “very fortunate that Woods was able to come out of this alive.”

Woods, one of the most successful golfers of all time, has won 15 major golf championships.

He recently underwent his fifth back surgery, and said he was uncertain if he will be able to play at the upcoming Masters, which he last won in 2019.

According to celebrity website TMZ, 45-year-old Woods was in the area for his annual Genesis Invitational golf tournament at the Riviera Country Club.
