Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen‘s marriage, which has recently been the focus of extensive tabloid speculation, may be on the verge of collapse, according to a Page Six report.

Brady and Bündchen have both hired divorce attorneys, according to a report in the New York Post published on Tuesday. This indicates that the couple, who married in February 2009, maybe permanently split up.

At the time this piece was published, Brady and Bündchen had not reacted to the reports.

In its report, the tabloid cited a number of unnamed individuals, one of whom said that the couple’s protracted fight over Brady’s choice to resume playing in the NFL would ultimately “be the end of them.”

Another unnamed source told Page Six, “I don’t think there will be any coming back now.” They both have attorneys and are analysing the terms of a split, including who would receive what and how much money will change hands.

As both parents are “very involved in their children’s lives,” sources told the tabloid that Brady and Bündchen would share custody of the couple’s children in the event of a divorce. In 2009, the couple welcomed son Benjamin, now 12, and in 2012 daughter Vivian, now nine. Brady also has a 15-year-old son named Jack from a prior relationship with Bridget Moynahan, an actor.

Page Six first claimed on September 1 that Brady and Bundchen were having relationship troubles, citing Brady’s choice to leave the NFL as the main cause of the couple’s “epic fight.” The pair was said to be living separately by both Page Six and CNN.

The couple’s marital problems, according to a source close to Bundchen, were “not due to (Brady’s) decision to play football again — sometimes things are complicated,” Page Six claimed later that month.

The next day, a different insider told Page Six that Brady and Bundchen have “recently struggled to make their marriage work and have grown apart,” and that their problems were not the result of adultery.

Both Brady and Bündchen confirmed having difficult conversations about the quarterback’s career and the effect it had on his family before Brady made his NFL retirement announcement on February 1, 2022 (and then changed his mind 40 days later).

Brady’s on-field blows weren’t her favourite, according to Bündchen. In a 2017 interview with CBS, Bündchen said that the Patriots had not previously disclosed that Brady had suffered a concussion. She also said she didn’t believe it was “a healthy thing for anybody to go through.”

“She didn’t feel I was doing my part for the family,” Brady explained. “I had to make a big transition in my life to say, ‘I can’t do all the things that I wanted to do for football like I used to. I gotta take care of things in my family because my family, the situation wasn’t great. She wasn’t satisfied with our marriage.”

Brady unexpectedly left the Buccaneers during the preseason in August for an 11-day break, which he later justified as being for personal reasons.

“It’s all personal,” Brady clarified. “You know, everyone has got different situations they’re dealing with so we all have really unique challenges to our life. You know. I’m 45 years old, man. There’s a lot of s*** going on. So you’ve just got to try to figure out life the best you can. You know, it’s a continuous process.”
