Stating that Trump is trying to sabotage the election, US Senator Bernie Sanders lashed out at President Donald Trump’s opposition to provide funds for postal service. Trump had said that he won’t give additional funding to the US Postal Service, as it would be used for mail-in voting.

Sanders said that the President’s intentions are not that complicated.

Trump may be crazy, but he’s not stupid. And he looks at polling. He is behind. And I think what he and his friends believe is that if they can suppress the vote -make it harder for people to vote — they have a better chance to win the election,” he said.

Trump had been criticising the mail-in voting for months stating that it would lead to “one of the greatest frauds in history.” Democrats fear that Trump might eventually hold on to the narrative and might try to steal the election if he loses, in November.

Sanders also expressed a similar concern. “No, Mr. President. We won’t let you sabotage the election. This is a democracy, not a damn dictatorship. Your reign of authoritarianism will soon end,” he added.
