As the final presidential debate unfolded on Thursday, Democratic nominee Joe Biden opened by arguing President Donald Trump’s handling of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States is enough to vote him out of office in November.

“You hear nothing else I say tonight, hear this: Anyone who’s responsible for not taking control, in fact… saying I take no responsibility initially, anyone who’s responsible for that many deaths should not remain as president of the United States of America,” Biden pressed, referring to the time Trump said he doesn’t take any responsibility of the virus.

Demarcating the steps Biden would’ve traced to tackle the virus as a president, he said the focus would be on pushing people to wear masks and more rapid testing for the virus.

“I would make sure that we set up national standards as to how to open up schools and open up businesses so they can be safe and give them the wherewithal, the financial resources to be able to do that,” the former vice president said.

Warning that we might yet not have witnessed the worst of the virus, Biden said the country is about to “go into a dark winter” and Trump “has no clear plan and there’s no prospect that there’s going to be a vaccine available for the majority of the American people before the middle of next year.”

The handling of the coronavirus has majorly dominated the discourse around the general election and as per voters it will be the most important topic come November 3.
