Around 5 am local time, the Tupelo Police Department received a report that a pilot of an aircraft, probably of the King Air variety, was passing above the city. According to a police statement, the pilot made contact with E911 and threatened to deliberately crash the aircraft.
To the greatest extent possible, police helped Walmart and a nearby Dodge’s vacate their establishments and disperse customers. The local police force and all emergency services are on high alert.

“Citizens are asked to avoid that area until an all clear is given. With the mobility of an airplane of that type the danger zone is much larger than even Tupelo,” police said in a statement.
Flightradar24 revealed that the pilot had been flying erratically between 500 and 1500 mean sea level, quite low, and much to the northwest of Tupelo.
