After President Donald Trump issued a statement on the ‘Team Trump’ Twitter account, the social media giant suspended the account from its platform. This came after Twitter suspended Trump’s official account and took down his tweets from the official account of the US President.

According to Twitter, it blocked the account as it violated its safety policy.

Just moments before the @TeamTrump account was suspended, it tweeted a statement by the US President.

In his statement, Trump accused Twitter employees of coordinating with “the Democrats and the Radical Left” in removing him from the platform, to “silence” him.

He added that Twitter might be a private company, “but without the government’s gift of Section 230 they would not exist for long.”

The law protects platforms like Twitter and Facebook from being held liable for their users’ posts.

“I predicted this would happen,” Trump tweeted, adding that he was negotiating with various sites and a “big announcement” was awaited.

Trump, who was a businessman before he assumed the Oval Office said he was looking at “possibilities of building out our own platform in the near future.”

“We will not be SILENCED! Twitter is not about FREE SPEECH,” the President said.

“They are all about promoting a Radical Left platform where some of the most vicious people in the world are allowed to speak freely…STAY TUNED!” he tweeted, ANI reported.

Trump had tweeted the same from @POTUS, which is the official account of the President of the United States. The tweets were later taken down.

On Friday, Twitter had banned Trump’s account citing “the risk of further incitement of violence.”

Earlier, the platform had banned him temporarily following Wednesday’s violence at Capitol Hill, in which four people and an officer died.

Meanwhile, the social media platform Facebook had taken a similar call and extended the suspension of Trump’s account indefinitely.
