Republican Senator Ted Cruz and 18 other Republicans went to the US-Mexico border on March 26 to document the immigration crisis underway.

Cruz posted a video on Twitter that aped the setup of wildlife documentaries and showed him standing between trees while he commented from the banks of the Rio Grande.

Cruz claims to have encountered drug cartels and a floating dead body in the Grande.

In a press conference, the Texan Senator said, “On the other side of the river we have been listening to and seeing cartel members – human traffickers – right on the other side of the river waving flashlights, yelling and taunting Americans, taunting the border patrol.”

In spite of the repeated claims made by the Republicans, Rio Grande Valley residents said that no immigration crisis exists. According to them, the number of immigrants crossing the border are identical to the influx during the Trump administration, Guardian reported.

Twitter users were quick to respond and troll Ted Cruz and his claims.

Cruz has previously been mocked and called out before for going on a vacation to Mexico in the middle of Texas experiencing its worst power outages and storms.
