At least two FBI agents were shot dead and three others wounded while they were serving a warrant in a child exploitation case in Florida on Tuesday morning, the law enforcement agency said.
FBI and officers from multiple agencies arrived at an apartment in Sunrise around 6 am on Tuesday morning to serve a warrant when the suspect, who was inside the residence, opened fire. The suspect, whose identity was not revealed, then barricaded himself inside the apartment.
“A team of law enforcement officers were there to execute a federal court-ordered search warrant in furtherance of a violent crimes against children case,” the FBI said, adding that the suspect is dead.
“In accordance with FBI policy, the shooting incident is under investigation by the FBI’s Inspection Division. The review process is thorough and objective and is conducted as expeditiously as possible under the circumstances,” the FBI said.
