Two men were hospitalized after a shooting on a CTA Red Line train in the South Loop, raising questions about the incident.
In a shooting incident on a CTA Red Line train in the South Loop on Saturday night, two men were hospitalized. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near the Roosevelt station, where two men were causing a disturbance on a stopped train. The nature of the disturbance remains unclear.

Chicago police reported that during the disturbance, a male suspect fired shots at the two men. A 25-year-old victim was struck multiple times and rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, while a 20-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition. A weapon was found at the scene.
A person of interest is being questioned, although it’s not immediately clear if they are the suspect who fired the shots. Detectives are actively investigating the incident.
The Red Line service was affected for several hours overnight but resumed normal operations just before 2 a.m.
This shooting adds to a series of violent incidents over the weekend in Chicago. At least eight people were injured in various shootings across the city, with victims ranging from 28 to 64 years old.
The incidents included a 64-year-old man shot in the lower back in the 7500 block of South Wentworth Avenue, an 18-year-old man sustaining a gunshot wound to the right leg in the 800 block of North Lawndale Avenue, and a 41-year-old man shot in the right leg and torso on the sidewalk in the 0-100 block of West 111th Street. No arrests were made in these cases.
