Tyre Nichols’ mother, RowVaughn Wells started a GoFundMe, and in just two days, it has amassed $1,313,070. According to TMZ, some of the greatest names in sports and Hollywood are contributing significantly to Tyre Nichols’ memorial fund in order to support his stepfather and mother.

Singer Sara Bareilles, pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, and comedian Lil Rel Howery each pledged $1,000, as did Shea Butter Baby singer Ari Lennox.

RowVaughn Wells, whose and her husband’s lives have been turned around by Nichols’s death, which occurred after he was severely beaten by Memphis police. Rodney Wells, the stepfather of Wells and Nichols, started the GoFundMe page to raise money for their ‘long and arduous’ grieving process as well as to cover the expense of mental health care. They added that they intended to create a memorial skate park in honor of their skateboarding-loving son.

“Tyre Nichols was loved by his community and was known to be gentle, kind, and joyful. He loved skating and was originally from the Bay Area in California. He was known as someone ‘you know when he comes through the door he wants to give you a hug’ and that ‘he wouldn’t hurt a fly. He had never been in trouble with the law, not even a parking ticket. He was an honest man, a wonderful son, and kind to everyone. He was quirky and true to himself, and his loss will be felt nationally,” the GoFundMe states.

In addition to helping them afford to take time off from their 9–5 jobs to concentrate on “finding real justice” for Nichols, Nichols’s mother claims that the donations will assist in defraying the costs of her and her husband’s mental health care.

Tyre’s mother also stated that the family wanted to create a skate park “in honor of his love for skating and sunsets.”

The most well-known skateboarder of all time, Tony, is committed to constructing a skate park in Nichols’s memory. He shared a clip of Nichols skateboarding with the remark, “Help Tyre’s family (and remember him with a skatepark).”

Hollywood stars are also giving generously, with Damon Lindelof of Watchmen contributing $2,300, Emily Kapnek of “As Told By Ginger” contributing $1,500, and Guy Oseary, Madonna’s manager, contributing $5,000.
