Kari Lake, a Republican candidate for governor of Arizona, said on Friday that she hasn’t seen anything that would lead her to question whether the election was fair.

This comes after Lake repeatedly said on the campaign trail that she would only accept the results of “a fair, honest, and transparent election.”

“I’ve not seen anything. Let’s wait and see what occurs. We’ve got a team of attorneys and poll observers, and we’re going to make sure everyone’s eyes are open. We want to make sure this runs smoothly,” Lake stated as per CNN.

On November 8, 2022, the Arizona gubernatorial election will be held to choose the state’s new governor alongside other federal and state elections.

Arizonan history will never be the same after Tuesday. Democracy is currently very much on the line.

When Barack Obama ran for Democrats in Arizona’s midterm elections this past week, he was direct about the stakes in that state.

According to Obama, “democracy as we know it may not survive in Arizona” if Republicans take control of critical positions in the state.

According to The Washington Post, 12 of Arizona’s 13 Republican candidates for federal and state office this year have questioned the outcome of the 2020 election.

In particular, Kari Lake, the party’s candidate for governor, falls under this. Due to her polished on-camera demeanour, Lake has gained popularity among the party’s Trump supporters. Lake is even touted as the former president’s female counterpart. Lake was a local TV anchor for years.

The main similarity between her and Trump is that the foundation of her message is election fraud. She has stated that she would not have certified the results in the state if she had been elected governor and that the 2020 election was “stolen.”

Additionally, Lake has not vowed to accept the outcomes of her competition. She said, “I’m going to win the election, and I will accept that conclusion,” as per CNN.

Blake Masters, a Republican running for the Senate, has promoted various election-related conspiracies. The Republican candidate for secretary of state, Mark Finchem, has asserted that there may have been ballots in some counties that ought to have been disregarded due to purported anomalies. Such irregularities have never been supported by any evidence.
