US President Joe Biden has said that he plans to supply more artillery to war-hit Ukraine.
After landing in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Biden was asked by journalists waiting on the tarmac if he is planning to send more artillery to Ukraine. According to the reporters, Biden was affirmative and simply responded with a “yes” before proceeding to his motorcade.
In the past few days, shipments from the US’ security assistance package “have begun arriving” in Ukraine. The shipment includes 300 Switchblade drones, 18 155mm Howitzer cannons, 11 Mi-17 helicopters and heavier-duty equipment, according to CNN.
The protective equipment aims to protect Ukraine’s forces against chemical attacks.
Yesterday, an aircraft with US security assistance onboard arrived in Europe. The security assistance is a part of the $800 million drawdown package signed last week. About seven more flights carrying security assistance are scheduled to touch down in Europe in a few hours, according to a statement by a senior US defense official to reporters on Tuesday.

Although the senior US official did not reveal when the assistance will reach Ukraine through “ground transportation”, s/he did say that “none of these shipments sit around very long before being offloaded off of” airplanes and “onloaded appropriately” to be transferred to the war-torn country.
“Then the next 24 hours, we expect there’ll be more than a half a dozen, probably more like seven, flights coming from the United States into the theater with various amounts of material based on the $800 million dollar drawdown package approved last week,” the official said.

The recent shipment provided to Ukraine by the United States brings the total amount of defense assistance by the latter to over $3 billion.
