Former United States President Donald Trump played his small yet significant part in the ongoing gubernatorial elections in Virginia, where

Republican Glenn Youngkin is going against Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who has previously held the Governor’s office in Virginia.

In a statement posted by Taylor Budowich– a spokesperson for the former President– on Twitter, Trump said, “Get out and vote for a man who will be a great governor, Glenn Youngkin!”

In the same statement, Trump seemed to be responding to ads funded by the Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump Republican group. The former President said, “I say to all of our millions of followers, don’t listen to the Fake News and misleading advertisements.”

Trump also furthered his rigged election claims in Virginia polls, the main ballot casting of which is yet to commence. The statement, shared by Budowich on Twitter, read, “We must win bigger than the margin of fraud by flooding the polls with those that believe in America First. Please vote on Tuesday for Glenn Youngkin—he will not let you down!”

According to reports from Washington Post, Youngkin has been walking a thin line of being linked to the former President, but not explicitly associating with his ideals. Trump lost the state of Virginia– which is dense with suburban and independent voters– by 10 points in the 2020 Presidential race against United States President Joe Biden.

However, former President Trump seems to push his political agenda through the campaign of Republican nominee Youngkin, who was confirmed for the race in May this year.

Earlier this year in September, Trump said that Youngkin risked missing out on dominating the gubernatorial race of Virginia by not fully embracing the ‘Make America Great Again’ movement.

In another attempt to inject himself into the race, former President Trump hinted at the idea of coming to Virginia to campaign on behalf of Youngkin last week.
