Walmart Supercenter on Fayetteville Road in Lumberton, North Carolina has been evacuated as police investigate an incident. One person is said to be shot, according to the police.  

An unnamed witness told ABC Affiliate WPDE that he heard what sounded like gunshots or fireworks and people running. The incident occurred on Black Friday.

When police arrived at the scene, They failed to find any trace of a shooter or any victims in the store, but surveillance video shows a shooter leaving the store as it’s being evacuated. 

Officers from the Lumberton Police Department got to know shortly after that a person showed up at UNC Health Southeastern with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The police are currently working to locate the suspect. The suspect’s name has not been released at this time.

The police have confirmed that it was an isolated incident and no employees at the store were injured in the shooting. 

Initially, some on social media claimed that they witnessed a shooting inside the store. Journalist Gurbaksh Singh Chahal reported that at least one person has been shot. The condition of the victim was not immediately known. Another tweet suggested that the incident could have been prompted due to an argument between two people

In a statement provided to WMBF News regarding the incident, Walmart said it is “working closely with local law enforcement.”

This incident comes just days after a Walmart employee shot and killed several employees in Chesapeake, Virginia on November 23. Police and Walmart have confirmed that the shooter was Andre Bing, manager, who was found dead at the scene from self-inflicted wounds.
