The death of Mohammad Anwar, an Uber Eats driver in the city of Washington DC led to the arrest of two teenage girls for allegedly attempting to carjack him after using a taser. The girls, who were later charged with armed carjacking and felony murder, were just 13 and 15 years old. 

The incident, which proved to be fatal for Anwar, occurred near the national park on Tuesday, reported CNN.

According to a fundraiser page set up by the victim’s family, Anwar came to the United States in 2014 from Pakistan and had been working as an Uber Eats driver for some time. 

In light of the fatal incident, a spokesperson from Uber said, “We are devastated by this tragic news and our hearts go out to Mohammad’s family during this difficult time. We’re grateful the suspects have been arrested and thank the Metropolitan Police Department for their diligence with this investigation”, reported WTOP News.

The 66-year-old resident of Springfield, Virginia was a “beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend who always provided a smile when you needed one,” the family said in a statement. 

They added, “He leaves behind a family, near and far, who cherish, love, and miss him dearly,”, reported CNN.
