An American Airlines Boeing 737 flight was forced to return to Ohio, just 25 minutes after it took off from the airport on Sunday after its engine caught fire.

Flight 1958 hit a flock of geese after departing from John Glenn International Airport in Columbus. In a video of the incident, taken from the ground, flames and smoke can be seen coming from the right engine. No injuries were reported and the plane was said to make a safe landing.

The flight took off from the airport around 7:43 a.m. local time and the plane was forced to return back to the airport around 8:22 a.m.

A passenger aboard the flight who was forced to turn back told NBC 4 that they heard a loud clanking noise in the plane. The pilot of the plane informed them that they hit a flock of geese shortly after takeoff. All the passengers deplaned after the plane landed safely and they were taken to another flight that took off later in the morning.

The airplane was inspected by firefighters and airport security and they put out the engine fire. An investigation has been launched into the incident by the Federal Aviation Administration. The John Glenn International Airport said it remains “open and operational.”

The recent incident comes just days after a similar incident was reported at the Charlotte Douglas Airport in North Carolina. In that instance, another American Airlines engine caught during take-off. American Airlines has not released a statement regarding the incident.
