Joe Biden mixed up
Colombia and Cambodia while speaking at the ASEAN summit on Saturday, in yet
another gaffe by the United States President.

Biden, 79 years
old, rose to speak at the Association Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN),
happening in Cambodia and started: “It was an honour to host at the White House
in May, and now that we are back together in Cambodia.”

But then went on
to say, “I look forward to building even stronger progress that we’ve already
made. I want to thank the Prime Minister for Colombia’s leadership as ASEAN
chair.”

Biden, of course,
meant Cambodia as the ASEAN Summit is taking place in Cambodia for it no sense
to thank the Prime Minister of Colombia as Colombia is headed by a President.
Also, because, Colombia is located nearly 19,000 kilometres away from Cambodia.
Biden meant to thank Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen who is hosting the
10-member summit.

This, however, is
not the first time Biden has mixed up Colombia and Cambodia. The New York Post
reports Biden made the mistake while heading for the summit on Thursday and
said he was “heading for Colombia,” before correcting himself.

This is also not
Biden’s only gaffe. The 46th President of the United States has a
series of gaffes to his credit. In 2021, Biden famously referred to his deputy
Vice-President Kamala Harris as President Harris.

Then, the same
year, the President told the media that he was going to celebrate his 58th
birthday when he was actually going to celebrate his 79th on
November 20 in 2021.

At the G7 Summit
in UK last year, Biden confused Libya and Syria while speaking to the media. He
was even reported to have dozed off during the COP26 Summit in Glasgow, Scotland
that year.

In yet another
name blunder, in his first State of the Union address in March, Biden had
referred to Ukrainian people as Iranian people. “Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks,
but he’ll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people,” Biden had
said and went on, “He’ll never, he’ll never extinguish their love of freedom.
And he will never, never weaken the resolve of the free world.”
