The Voice is back with its 20th Season and it has surely kicked off with a bang as a native from Florida named Kenzie Wheeler began the show with a performance on Keith Whitley’s “Don’t Close Your Eyes.” The country singer, who is a self-admitted “momma’s boy” said that he is a longtime fan of Blake Shelton and had previously opened for the late Charlie Daniels.

Wheeler earned a magnificent four-chair-turn from Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas and John Legend as he sang the Keith Whitley classic. Kelly Clarkson immediately blocked Shelton, so Wheeler was unable to join his favourite star Blake.

During the show, Shelton said that he was blocked by Kelly. Further praising the country boy, he said, “This guy has the triple threat mullet. First he has the party in the back, he’s got the shaved side, but then the rare widow’s peak, the rarest of all mullets. This guy is a unicorn!”

All the coaches fought hard for Wheeler to join their teams, Nick Jonas appreciated the singer, “Kenzie, nothing has brought me more pleasure than hearing your voice.” But it was Clarkson who eventually won Wheeler over as she used her only block.
