A video of a child comforting a dog during fireworks has been doing the rounds on the internet. The short video has been shared by a Twitter user named Tong Bingxue. Amassing over 4.1 million views since it was uploaded, the heartwarming video has been shared by more than 90,000 Twitter users. 

The 16-second long video shows a child in a furry pink jacket standing next to a dog. After a series of loud firecrackers, the child is seen covering the dog’s ears and then petting the animal. 

The caption of the viral tweet reads, “Heartwarming moment during Chinese New Year celebration. The little girl covers her pet’s ears to avoid the sound of fireworks.”

The Twitter user further added that the video was filmed in Jiangxi, a southeastern province of China. The video first surfaced on Chinese TikTok. 

The short clip has garnered over 9,000 comments. One Twitter user wrote, “She is trying to look after the dog the way she is cared for and loved. May the world be gentle to her.”

Another user added, “God is love, and love cannot be described! If we humans were fundamentally caring and kind, then so many people in the world would be fine! There are two sides to life like day and night, it’s love and evil! Evil is always the opposite of love!”

Other users wondered why the fireworks were lit in broad daylight. 

The Chinese New Year marked the end of the Year of the Ox and the beginning of the Year of the Tiger. The annual holiday is celebrated with processions, decorations, family dinners and dances. Each year is signified by an animal, according to Chinese mythology. The animals in the zodiac include Ox, Tiger, Rat, Snake, Dragon, Horse, Goat, Rooster, Dog, Pig and Monkey.
