WCW Icon Sting returned
on the TNT network in this week’s AEW Dynamite from the Fertitta Center in
Houston. This was the first match for Sting on the TNT network in over two decades.
He teamed up with Darby Allin to take on 2.0 (Matt Lee and Jeff Parker) in a
Texas Tornado tag team match.

An interview with Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston was scheduled
to begin off Wednesday Night Dynamite, but they were assaulted by 2.0 and
Daniel Garcia. Sting and Darby Allin were then summoned by 2.0 for their Texas
Tornado Tag Match.

With Garcia participating, this was virtually a handicap
match, but Moxley and Kingston battled back to avenge themselves. Sting was
power bombed through a table during the fight, but he didn’t sell it and sprang
up to execute a Scorpion Death Drop on both members of 2.0. In the end, he
helped his side win the match by forcing 2.0 to tap out to the Scorpion Death
Lock.

Sting and Darby Allin of AEW have an outstanding record in
the organization, with two victories under their belts. He last wrestled on the
TNT network on March 26, 2001, when he fought Ric Flair on Monday Nitro during the closing
days of WCW.

Prior to the event, AEW and TNT released a press release
promoting Sting’s first-ever Dynamite match. They backed Allin and Sting’s
perfect 2-0 record for their AEW Revolution victories against Brian Cage and
current FTW Champion Ricky Starks in the epic Street Fight and Ethan Page and
Scorpio Sky at Double or Nothing.

Sting spoke on his friendship with TNT, saying that the opportunity to wrestle on Wednesday’s episode is surreal.

“My relationship with
TNT goes back more than 25 years, so having the opportunity to wrestle on the network that housed some of my most important moments is pretty surreal,” Sting
said. “The return of crowds has already been electric enough over the past
month and a half, but there’s going to be an extra surge of adrenaline in
Houston knowing that we’re live on TNT on Wednesday night.”
