A shooting incident was reported in the Westchase area of West Houston on Saturday afternoon, as confirmed by the Houston Police Department.

The shooting incident claimed the life of one person, and another individual sustained injuries in the incident. The shooting took place around 4:25 p.m. in the 11300 block of Richmond Avenue.

A man and a woman allegedly forced their way into an apartment on the third story of the Westchase Forest building on Richmond Avenue, according to the police. Two people who were already inside the residence fired their weapons at the man and woman.

Local Police involved in the case said as of now two people have been detained. The primary investigation in the case is underway.

The information regarding the other person injured in the shooting is still not disclosed.

Meanwhile, another shooting incident was reported at a Sonic restaurant in Belen on Friday. The incident took place just after 7 p.m., according to Chief James Harris of the Belen Police Department. He mentioned that the police could get to the situation quickly because they were situated close to the restaurant where the shooting occurred.

Harris in a statement said, “It appears to be an ongoing family issue of some kind. We believe that the shooter was actually in the line at the Sonic at the time (of the shooting).”

Officers on the scene immediately tried to help Elisa Swiftbird, the victim, after the gunshot. Swiftbird, tragically, was unable to recover from her wounds and was declared dead at the site despite their efforts.

According to Chief James Harris, Donald Lewis, the shooting suspect left the site immediately following the event, but he quickly returned. Lewis was later detained, and now he is accused of killing. At the moment, he is being held without bail at the Valencia County Detention Facility.
