Shanquella Robinson, a 25-year-old woman from North Carolina, passed away in Mexico under mysterious circumstances last month. 24 hours before her death, a shocking video had come up on social media which showed her being heated up by her friends.

While her family says that she died of a “broken neck”, police are saying that there was no foul play. According to the police, the woman had died of alcohol poisoning.

Robinson, 25, was travelling with a group of friends in Mexico when on October 28 she was founded dead. The video where she is seen being beaten up had surfaced a day earlier.

Her parents, Salamondra and Bernard Robinson claimed that an autopsy on their daughter showed that she died of a severe neck injury. They said that there was clear evidence to show that she died of violent injuries, as opposed to the police’s claim that she died from alcohol poisoning.

“When the autopsy came back, they said it didn’t have anything to do with the alcohol,” mother Salamondra told WNCT. “[They] said that she had a broken neck and her spine in the back was cracked.”

After receiving panic calls from her daughter’s friends, they spoke to the FBI and authorities in Mexico.

“Each one of the people that was there with her was telling different stories,” she continued about her impression of speaking to her friends, adding, “They said she wasn’t feeling well. She had alcohol poisoning. They couldn’t get a pulse.”

U.S. State Department representatives say that Shanquella’s death was not a murder and there were no indications of wrongdoing in the police inquiry. Currently, a representative is also assisting the family in obtaining reports from the Mexican government.
