Monterey Park mass shooting suspect has been identified as 72-year-old Huu Can Tran. He opened fire at Star Ballroom Studio in Monterey Park, California, on Saturday night, killing at least 10 people and injuring 10 others. He then fled the scene and entered another dance studio down the lane from the mass shooting scene. He was disarmed at the second scene following which he allegedly fled in a white van. He died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound when authorities closed in on him in his vehicle on Sunday morning.

Now, in an interview with CNN, his ex-wife, who asked to remain anonymous, revealed details about the shooter and their relationship.

Tran was a regular at the Star Ballroom Studio. He reportedly met his ex-wife at the studio where he offered to give her free lessons.

She told CNN that thought Tran had a short temper, he was never violent with her. She claimed that he would get really frustrated if she missed a step during their dance routine. He felt that it made him look bad. She said they were together for several years. He lost interest in her and filed for divorce in 2005. Their divorce was approved the following year, CNN reported.

Huu Can Tran is reportedly an immigrant from China and used a semi-automatic assault pistol in Saturday’s shooting.

The motive behind the crime is not known.

“I still have questions in my mind, which is: What was the motive for this shooter? Did he have a mental illness?” said Congresswoman Judy Chu at a press conference.
