The $1.55 billion Mega Millions jackpot is set for Tuesday’s drawing.
The jackpot’s cash option is almost $757 million. For tonight’s drawing, players in Michigan have already bought more than 2.2 million tickets at the point of sale.
If a person wins the Mega Millions jackpot tonight, it will surpass the $1.348 billion jackpot won in January by a player in Maine and become the highest Mega Millions prize of the year. The most recent Mega Millions jackpot was won in April when a New York-purchased ticket matched all five white balls and the Mega ball to take home a $20 million prize.
Soon after each drawing, the winning numbers are posted. On Wednesday and Saturday mornings, when Mega Millions lottery security has confirmed winning ticket purchases, information on the number of winners is posted.
Every Tuesday and Friday morning, the Mega Millions committee meets to decide the game’s projected jackpots for the following two games. In order to estimate the anticipated total sales for those drawings, lottery directors and finance professionals share their respective state’s sales predictions at the conference. The projected cash value of the jackpots and the announced annuity values are then calculated using those sales estimates, with the annuity value based on the 30-year U.S. Treasuries rate for that day, which is subject to daily fluctuations.

The second-largest Mega Millions jackpot won this year would be won if a player scooped tonight’s prize. A Maine player scooped the $1.348 billion Mega Millions jackpot in January. The last Mega Millions jackpot to be won in Michigan was by an Oakland County lottery club in January 2021. A $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot was won by the club. The jackpot was the biggest ever won in Michigan and ranked sixth in the history of the American lottery.
