The first arrest in connection with the Gilgo Beach murders has been made more than thirteen years after they captured the public’s attention. Rex Heuermann, an architect living in New York who is 59 years old and described as married with children, is thought to be responsible for the horrifying killings that rocked the Long Island region in the 2010s.

On July 14, Rex was detained in his office in Midtown Manhattan, where his daughter Victoria Heuermann—from his second marriage to Asa Ellerup—was a vital part of the team of four. The defendant is accused of killing Melissa Barthelemy, 24, Megan Waterman, 22, and Amber Costello, 27, in three first-degree murder cases and three second-degree murder cases. In addition, he is regarded as the “prime suspect” in the 25-year-old Maureen Brainard-Barnes’ s murder. The killer’s victims were all sex workers with comparable physical characteristics.
What we know about Rex Heuermann’s son?
Rex has been described as a father of two who values his family. Victoria, his daughter, was identified as an employee of his Rex Heuermann Architecture firm. However, the team members are no longer visible to the general public on the organization’s website as a result of his arrest on Thursday, July 14.

According to the New York Post, Rex is also the father of a son who is referred to by their neighbours as a “partially disabled kid.” Many of the neighbours think he’s definitely Rex’s stepson even if his identity is unknown. Their neighbor Etienne DeVilliers described his son to the news outlet, stating, “He has a partially disabled kid. A very nice kid.” DeVilliers said, “We spoke frequently, every day. And his kid is a nice kid, a special needs kid”.
“Rex Heuermann is a demon that walks among us,” said Suffolk County Police Commission Rodney Harrison during the news conference on Thursday, July 13. “A predator that ruined families.”
Furthermore, Rex is alleged to have been “compulsively” looking up details about the Gilgo Beach murder victims and their families online.
