Prince Harry and his
wife, Meghan Markle have been teasing content projects for a while, but with no
release date in sight, fans have been left disappointed.

The Duke and
Duchess of Sussex had signed a £120million deal with Netflix and
Spotify for projects including an animated series titled ‘Pearl’ and a
documentary named ‘Heart of Invictus’.

After 16 months of
no progress, both the platform giants have taken matters into their
own hands, with Spotify taking over the production, and Netflix on the lookout
for a production designer.

While the famed
couple has been busy on the domestic front after the birth of their daughter
Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, the duo has managed to take even longer than the Obamas
to release content.

Barack and Michelle
Obama had announced their debut documentary ‘American Factory’ in May 2018. The
documentary premiered eight months later in January 2019 at Sundance Film Festival.
The nearly 2 hour long feature film was released on Netflix 15 months after
its announcement.

With no announcement
by Prince Harry and Meghan yet, pressure seems to be scaling for Netflix and Spotify.

Spotify’s partner Gimlet Projects has been on the
lookout for a production team, although initially, Meghan and Harry had signed
their podcast production company Archewell Audio’s head Rebecca Sananes in July
2021.

Following Spotify’s footsteps, Netflix has begun
advertising for a production designer job role to help with ‘Pearl’, an animated series
by Markle that revolves around a 12-year-old girl in awe of notable women in
history.

The advert describes
the show as a “heartfelt adventure comedy series” about a young girl who
“comes from the mind of Meghan.”

The job alert also
includes a description of the nature of the job, stating that the chosen
candidate will “develop, create, and support the aesthetic vision”
and “design multiple worlds representing various time periods throughout
history.”

Certain British
media tabloids known for their bold criticism towards Markle, have called the
turn of events a strong piece of evidence of the couple failing to deliver.
