A shooting took place at the Chandler mall in Arizona. The Chandler police took to Twitter to announce the same. The cops are investigating the incident and no major damage has been reported till now.

Chandler Mall is a regional fashion center located in the city of Chandler in Arizona just at the southwest corner of Chandler Boulevard & Price/Loop 101. It is a shopping destination for families and the mall comprises more than 180 shops and restaurants.

It is the second largest mall in the Phoenix metropolitan area and it is owned by Macerich. The mall is designed like the letter A with the food court at the top point. Chandler Mall has a plethora of upscale shopping stores including the Apple Store, Coach, Michael Kors, Sephora, LEGO,  H&M, and many more. 

Dillard’s, Macy’s, Harkins Theater, and Barnes & Noble anchor the Chandler Fashion Center. 

Additional amenities in the mall include a 20-screen Harkins theater, Crayola Experience, valet parking, meeting rooms, tour group services and an outdoor lawn.  There are plenty of dining options like the Cheesecake Factory, BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery, the Old Spaghetti Factory  in addition to the food court. 

Earlier there was a special attraction in the outdoor plaza of the mall. There used to be the Dancing Waters fountain featuring a display of water, lights and music. But in 2014, it was demolished and turned into a picnic area.

There are also many large retail centers like Chandler Festival, Chandler Gateway, Chandler Village Center and the Boulevard Shops surrounding the mall. 

This mall opened on October 21, 2001. It had 299 stores initially and was  owned by Westcor. Dilliard’s, Nordstorm, Sears, Robinsons-May , Harkins Theatre were the five anchors during its initial years. But Sears and Nordstorm took off their anchors after they planned to close their stores in 16 nations. 

A shootout also occurred at the mall in 2011 which led to an immediate lockdown of the mall. But it was further reopened after the suspect was detected.
