According to radio data from the Worcester Fire Department, a three-alarm fire occurred on Monday afternoon at the new Doherty High School building.

The initial report of the fire came just after 3 o’clock. Radio traffic indicated that materials on the building’s roof, not the structure itself, were the cause.

According to reports, a person was spotted being removed from the scene in an ambulance. The Worcester Police Department is advising motorists to avoid the area around Highland St.

The new school building is now being constructed, and it is scheduled to open in August 2024.
