At Macy’s in the Mall of Georgia, there was a stabbing and a shooting, according to Gwinnett County Police.

According to the police, the victim worked for Macy’s. Although their status was unknown, police characterised their injuries as “serious.”

The individual was shot by a Gwinnett police officer, according to Sgt. Jennifer Richter, the department’s public relations officer. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation further stated that it had been asked to investigate an officer-involved shooting.

Richter states that the suspect’s condition is stable.

During what police believe to have been an attempted robbery inside Macy’s, the suspect destroyed the jewellery counter with a “crowbar or similar object,” they added. The man was allegedly “trying to get merchandise,” according to Richter.

Where is the Mall of Georgia?

The Mall of Georgia is an indoor super-regional retail centre situated in Buford, Georgia, in unincorporated Gwinnett County, 30 miles northeast of Atlanta. With more than 200 businesses spread across three levels, it was first opened in 1999 and is currently the biggest shopping centre in both the Atlanta Metropolitan Area and the state of Georgia.

The Ivy Creek Greenway passes by the neighbourhood of the shopping centre portion. Von Maur, Macy’s, Dillard’s, Belk, JCPenney, Haverty’s Furniture, Barnes & Noble, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Regal Cinemas are the anchor establishments.
