A man has been detained in connection with the murder of four University of Idaho students close to the Pocono Mountains.

Deanna Durante and Brian Sheehan of NBC10 have confirmed with sources that Bryan Kohberger, 28, is a person of interest in custody in Monroe County, Pennsylvania. According to sources who spoke with NBC10, Kohberger appeared before a Monroe County judge Friday about 8:30 a.m. According to court documents, Kohberger is presently being held at the Monroe County Prison while he awaits extradition. There are still unknown details surrounding the arrest’s nature and Kohberger’s capture.

The November 13 killings of four students – Madison Mogan, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin – shocked Moscow, Idaho, and drew national attention.

Police said the four were stabbed to death in the middle of the night at an off-campus property rented by the three female students, some with wounds indicating they fought back against their attacker. So far, the probe has essentially yielded no results. Two first-floor housemates who authorities believe slept through the incident have already been ruled out as suspects.
