Where is the Mall at Prince Georges?

The Mall at Prince Georges was earlier known as Prince Georges Plaza and even had a subway station named after it. However, the station will soon be renamed as the Hyattsville Crossing. The mall was developed by the Eastern Shopping Centers and is owned and managed by Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust. It was given the new name, The Mall at Prince Georges, in 2004.

When Prince Georges Plaza first opened in 1959, it was an open-air mall. It went through a number of renovations and was enclosed in the 1970s. It was the opening of a store by Hecht’s on November 2, 1958, which is considered the official inauguration of the mall.

Anchor stores at The Mall at Prince Georges include those of Macy’s, Target, Marshalls, Ross Dress For Less, TJMaxx, and Five Below. In 1965, a 20,000-square-foot area at the mall was leased by Raleigh Haberdasher. However, the location was later closed in 1992. A store of the now-defunct departmental store chain Woodward & Lothrop was also operational at the mall from 1966 to 1995.
