On Saturday, April 15, 2023, tragedy struck Tuscaloosa, Alabama when a car accident claimed the lives of two teens. Samuel Brown and Madison Shaque, the victims, were discovered dead at the spot of the crash. The untimely death of these young lives has saddened and grieved their family and loved ones.

Who are Madison Shaque and Samuel Brown?

On April 15, Madison Shaque Sims, 17, and Samuel Brown, 18, died in a crash with a semi-truck at Skyland Boulevard East in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Madison and Samuel were both Bryant High School students and were attending their high school prom together. Samuel was a senior in high school, where he played football and basketball.

According to multiple reports, a car and a semi-truck collided at about 1:50 in the morning, causing the accident to happen. The result was that the automobile became pinned beneath the truck, squeezing the occupants inside.

The collision happened as Madison and Samuel were just leaving the prom. A white Tesla was being driven by the pair. Along with Madison and Samuel, there were two other teenagers in the car. An 18-year-old Montgomery teen was sent with life-threatening wounds to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. The other 17-year-old female who was injured in the collision was fortunately transferred to DCH Regional Medical Centre and is reported to be doing well on Saturday morning after suffering only minor wounds.

The two teenagers’ deaths have also been confirmed by a statement from Tuscaloosa City Schools. Lydia Avant, the representative, said, “On Monday, students will have access to counselors and social workers to help cope with this tragedy. We will continue to have counselors available to help our students in the coming days. Teachers and staff will have access to our Employee Assistance Program. We send our deepest sympathies to the families involved and ask that their privacy is respected during this difficult time.”

Investigations concerning the incident are still ongoing.
