Three police officers in San Antonio, Texas were charged with murder after a woman was shot and killed inside her apartment during an argument on Friday. The three officers involved in the incident are Sgt Alfred Flores, Officer Eleazar Alejandro, and Officer Nathaniel Villalobos.

San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) chief William McManus in a press briefing said the woman identified as Melissa Perez, was having a “mental health crisis” when officers found her and shot her.

Sgt. Alfred Flores, Eleazar Alejandro, and Nathaniel Villalobos have been identified as the three cops involved in the incident. Sgt. Alfred Flores had fourteen, Eleazar Alejandro had five years and Nathaniel Villalobos had two years of police experience. The officers were suspended from their jobs after being arrested on Friday. Later, they were freed on a $100,000 bond.

According to local media reports, the police were summoned to Perez’s apartment complex at around 2 am following reports that she was tampering with wires linked to the building’s fire alarm system.
The police department in a report said local firefighters were the first to respond to the incident. When the officers approached Perez, who was outside walking her dog, the situation worsened. She sprinted back to her flat and closed the door. The officers attempted to enter her flat but were met with resistance from Perez. She hurled a glass candle at them, hitting the arm of one of the officers. In resistance, she wielded a hammer against the officers.

One of the officers fired several times at Perez during the confrontation, but none of the bullets struck her. But when Perez returned to the officers with the hammer All three of them opened fire, which resulted in her death, as confirmed by the emergency medical services.
