Abbigail Wheeler alleges that she was dismissed from the YMCA SPY swim team after she and a teammate posted banners that stated “Women’s Rights,” “Biological Women Only,” and “SafeSport” to warn other females that biological guys were nearby.

The communications director for the local YMCA chapter claims that Wheeler left the group independently and said, “Since May, there have been numerous false assertions about the same concerns that have been spread by the same individuals. The claims made in this version of the story—that the swimmer was kicked out of the Y and barred from joining the swim team—are untrue. She cut ties with the YMCA and the swim squad.”

Tuesday morning, Abbigail maintained her version of events, claiming it is “not true” that she quit on her own.

Wheeler stated on Tuesday on Fox & Friends First: “I went to my coach and gladly told him that I was a part of this, and he said that it was probably not the best option for me to swim with the swim team that night and that the YMCA staff would follow up with my family.”

Riley Gaines of OutKick, a supporter of female athletes, said on “Fox & Friends First” that she is “proud” of Wheeler for speaking out.

According to Wheeler’s father, concerns were raised when she saw two biological guys in the women’s restroom in April of last year.

Existing reports state that Wheeler and her family voiced their worries about transgender athletes being present in the women’s locker area and approached head coach Alex Totura and the CEO of the local branch to question the rule but were informed that nothing could be done.
