On October 11, Tulsi Gabbard announced she was leaving the Democratic Party, labelling it an “elitist cabal.”

The former presidential candidate slammed the Democratic Party in a minute-long video, calling them warmongers who demonise police and push the nation toward nuclear war.

Tulsi Gabbard has had two marriages. In 2002, she wed Eduardo Tamayo, the pair split in 2006. Gabbard is now married to cinematographer and editor Abraham Williams.

Who is Abraham Williams?

Abraham Williams is a cinematographer originally from New Zealand who currently lives in the United States. Williams moved to the United States owing to his mother who started working at the Honolulu District Office after separating from Williams’ biological father.

Williams is well-known now as a film-focused cinematographer. He has contributed to numerous productions over the years, including White Guys: P.I., Lahi, The Ace, God for Broke, and Anton Chekhov’s The Proposal.

Gabbard and Williams first met in 2012, when Williams volunteered to film advertisements for Gabbard’s congressional campaign, shortly after Gabbard took office, the two got married in 2015.

In 2015, Gabbard told the New York Times that their “friendship and relationship developed over our mutual love for the ocean and surfing.”

So much so that Williams proposed to Gabbard while they were surfing.

As per The Sun, Gabbard stated- “He paddled quickly out to the lineup, way ahead of me, and waited as I slowly made my way out. Then he paddled over, pulled out a double-tethered contraption attached to a gold duct-tape-covered flotation device, with a beautiful ring attached, and said, ‘I have a question for you: Will you marry me?”

For nearly four years, the Congresswoman was married to Eduardo Tamayo. They divorced in 2006, six years before Williams started working on Gabbard’s campaign.

After serving as the Second Congressional District of Hawaii’s US Representative from 2013 to 2021, Tulsi Gabbard earned recognition. She was the first Hindu and Samoan American elected to the US Congress.
