Andrew Jones Jr. (Republican Party) is running for the United States House of Representatives to represent Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. On August 2, 2022, he will be on the Republican primary ballot.

Jones, Southwestern Electric Cooperative’s vice president of business development and marketing, ran for mayor as a Republican in 2017. When the city switched to a nonpartisan system for electing mayors in 2021, he ran again. He was defeated in both campaigns.

Jones Jr was born in Cairo, Illinois, and grew up in East St. Louis, which is only seven miles from his current residence in the Botanical Heights neighbourhood.

Jones Jr graduated from Lincoln University with a B.S. in economics, Webster University with an M.A. in international business, and Washington University with an M.B.A. He was the executive vice president for business development and marketing at Southwest Electric at the time of his mayoral campaign in 2021.

Jones describes himself as a “Business leader. Not a politician,” according to andrewjonesforcongress.com .He is a Southwest Electric executive who lives in Botanical Heights. He is campaigning on parental rights in education and federal government spending cuts.

Jones called Bush a “socialist ideologue” in an election campaign press release, saying it was “time for a change” in the 1st Congressional District.

“Our families are struggling under the weight of inflation and out of control prices. There is a growing crime epidemic in our communities and our children are suffering under a chronic underperforming education system,” Jones said in a news release.

“We don’t need a socialist ideologue that divides people based upon income, race and background. “What we need is common sense representation that will put the interest of St. Louis and St. Louis County first; that is why I am running for Congress to provide real answers for real challenges,” he added.
