An order to shelter in place was issued by the police on Wednesday after gunfire broke out in Lynn, Massachusetts. The suspect has been identified as Anthony Gutierrez.

However, despite the safety precautions, according to Lynn police, the shooter was still at large as of Wednesday afternoon. After almost an hour, the lockdown was eventually lifted.

Who is Anthony Gutierrez?

Anthony Gutierrez is 23 years old. The shooter remained at large as of Wednesday afternoon. He has been identified by authorities based on CCTV footage. Multiple offenses are brought against Gutierrez, including assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, carrying a weapon without a permit, firing a gun within 500 feet of a structure, and unlawful ammunition possession.

At around 11:30 a.m., the Lynn Police Department received a complaint of gunfire at Commercial and Neptune Street. As a result, officers started looking for a guy who had run away on foot.

First responders’ preliminary investigations revealed that two suspects got out of a black Lexus. According to Lynn Police Chief Christopher Reddy, the driver moved to the back of the car and started firing bullets at a white Toyota Camry.

The alleged victim is thought to have been in a white Toyota Camry with the Massachusetts license plate 4RAW48. As part of the ongoing investigation, investigators are attempting to speak with the passengers of this car.

Although there was no longer a shelter-in-place order for Lynn residents and kids, the police continued to urge caution after the incident.

The police authorities in a Facebook post said, “This seems to be a targeted shooting rather than a random act. We advise locals to maintain their alertness and keep their doors firmly shut. We also request that everyone who has a security camera study the recordings from both the incident and the aftermath.”
