Anton Lunyk was part of the January 6 ‘Stop The Steal’ rally in Washington DC, which later transformed into a riot at the US Capitol. Media reports say that Lunyk, also a rioter, received a phone call from the White House while the riot was still underway.

It is not clear who made the call from the White House. However, it came from a publicly available contact number. The call made to Lunyk lasted for nine seconds, according to reports from CNN.

Who is Anton Lunyk?

Anton Lunyk, 26, is a supporter of former President Donald Trump. He traveled to Washington DC a day before the ‘Stop The Steal’ rally along with two friends —  Francis Connor and Antonio Ferrigno. Lunyk lives in Brooklyn, New York.

According to publicly available court documents, Anton Lunyk and his friends have no ties to any of the organised groups that entered the Capitol complex on January 6, including Proud Boys and Oathkeepers.

Lunyk also attended the “Million MAGA March” in Washington DC on November 15, 2020, just days after Joe Biden was announced as the US President-elect.

Lunyk, along with his two friends, was sentenced to a few months of home confinement, probation, and small fines, CNN reported. The Capitol rioter faced the following charges before pleading guilty: Entering and remaining in the Capitol unlawfully, violently entering the Capitol, disorderly conduct inside the Capitol, and parading, demonstrating or picketing inside the Capitol.

According to documents released by the United States Justice Department, Lunyk was spotted inside the US Capitol wearing a red MAGA hat, gray hooded sweatshirt and a vest. He also posted a picture on his social media from the Capitol complex. The phone is now deleted.
