Ashley Biden is in the news because of the theft and sale of her diary and other items. Her belongings were stolen in 2020 from Florida. Her father and current US President, Joe Biden, was the Democratic nominee for the White House at that time. Aimee Harris and Robert Kurlander have pled guilty to the theft.

Who is Ashley Biden?

Ashley Blazer Biden is a social worker, activist, philanthropist and fashion designer from the United States. She was born on June 8, 1981, in Wilmington, Delaware, in the United States of America. Joe Biden, the 46th President of the United States of America, and Jill Biden are her parents. From 2014 to 2019, she was the Executive Director of the Delaware Center for Justice. Biden founded the clothing line Livelihood. It debuted during New York Fashion Week in 2017.

Biden grew up Catholic and was baptized at St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine in Greenville, Delaware. From her father’s first marriage to the late Neilia Hunter Biden, she has two half-brothers, Hunter Biden and late Beau Biden, and a half-sister, the late Naomi Biden. Biden graduated from Archmere Academy, a private Catholic school, in 1999.

She was a member of the school’s lacrosse and field hockey teams. She got a job at West End Neighborhood House, a non-profit organization, as their Employment and Education Liaison for judging youth and developing various employment and job skills training programs after finishing graduate school. She spent fifteen years as a social worker with the Delaware Department of Services for Children, Youth, and Their Families. She was promoted to executive director of the center in 2014 and held that position until 2019.

Biden criticized the death penalty in 2014, claiming that it is ineffective and wastes resources that could be used for victim services and crime prevention. She founded the Young@Art program, which provides resources and outlets for students detained in detention facilities to create artwork, which is then sold in the community.

During New York Fashion Week in 2017, Biden debuted the Livelihood Collection, an ethical fashion clothing brand, at Spring Place in TriBeCa. The brand raised $30,000 for the Delaware Community Foundation in collaboration with Gilt Groupe and Aubrey Plaza. For the 2017 Snoopy and Belle in Fashion exhibition, Biden collaborated with Barbara Tfank, Rachel Zoe, Calvin Klein, etc. to design outfits for 12-inch vinyl dolls of the Peanuts characters Snoopy and Belle.

In 2012, she married Howard Krein, an otolaryngologist and plastic surgeon. Krein works at Philadelphia’s Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
