Bart Goldberg is a Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 5th District. Prior to running for a seat in Michigan’s 5th Congressional District, he ran as a 2014 Democrat candidate for District 40 of the Illinois House of Representatives.

Born in Louisville Kentucky, Golberg graduated with a Bachelors in Arts in economics from the University of Chicago. Immediately after, he applied for to the University of Chicago Law School, and graduated in 1985. After graduating, he set up his own law practice with a focus on estate planning, real estate as well as small business legal matters. Since then, he has lived in New Buffalo, Michigan with his wife Missy.

He is running as a unopposed Democrat for the 5th Congressional District. However, his opponent is likely to be either the Republican incumbet Tim Walberg or newcomer Sherry O’Donnell.

While there was supposed to be one more Republican candidate fighting it out in the primaries, Elizabeth Ferzst was disqualified from the ballot as the signatures on her nomination petition were declared invalid.

Between Walbery, O’Donnell and Ferzst, whoever wins will take on Goldberg during the mid-terms which being in November this year.

According to Golberg’s website, bart4mi.com, the Democrat is “tired of extremists to the left and to the right.” He goes on to say that he’s a “regular person with common-sense views and that’s exactly who I’ll represent in Congress.”

In an interview with WLNS6.com from May 2022, Goldberg pointed out that lawmakers in Washington D.C had “failed to address the needs of south Michigan.”

As part of his platform, the Democrat says that his first priority is ensuring that the minimum wage is raised as he believes in the “dignity of a living wage.” In addition, Golberg supports taxing large corporations stating that new legislation was required to ensure that such companies are not avoiding tax by using foreign tax havens.
